Our commitment
CompareCrypto Australia exists to help Australians make better decisions about where they buy, sell, and hold cryptocurrency. The value of this site depends entirely on the trust of our readers — and that trust depends on rigorous, transparent editorial standards. These are the principles we work to.
Independence
- Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial relationships. Affiliate partners do not see reviews before publication and have no input into our ranking or scoring.
- We do not accept "pay for placement" arrangements. Ranking positions on this site cannot be purchased.
- If we add or remove an affiliate relationship, our review of that exchange does not change as a result.
Accuracy
- Every review is based on first-hand testing where possible, supplemented by current published information from the exchange and independent sources.
- Fee tables, supported coin counts, and feature claims are verified against the exchange's own website at the time of publication or update.
- Reviews are dated. The "Updated" date on each page reflects the most recent material review of the content.
- If we make a factual error, we correct it promptly and add a note where the correction is material to the conclusion.
Methodology
Each Australian crypto exchange we review is scored against four weighted pillars:
- Fees & spreads — total all-in cost including trading fees, deposit and withdrawal charges, and the spread between buy and sell prices.
- Security & licensing — AUSTRAC registration is the baseline; we give extra weight to ISO 27001 certification, proof of reserves, cold storage practices, and operational history.
- Coins & features — supported asset count, staking, AUD payment rails, and recurring-buy availability.
- Customer experience — Trustpilot ratings, app store reviews, support quality, and Australian-based service availability.
Detailed methodology is set out on our how we rank page.
Review cycle
- Headline figures (fees, coin counts) are checked at least monthly.
- Full re-reviews are conducted at least annually, or sooner when an exchange undergoes a material change (new fee structure, security incident, ownership change, etc.).
- If an exchange materially fails one of our pillars — for example, loses AUSTRAC registration — it is removed from the comparison.
What this site is not
- This is not financial advice. Nothing on this site takes into account your personal financial circumstances. Always consider seeking advice from a licensed Australian financial adviser before investing.
- This is not a real-time price or fee tracker. Markets and exchange terms move; check the exchange's own website for live data before transacting.
- This is not tax advice. The Australian Taxation Office treats crypto in specific ways; talk to a registered tax agent for your situation.
